Key Largo, Florida
Claudia studied art in High School and her teacher created her first show in the lobby of a local theatre. She continued her education at Daytona Beach Community College. Her studies were interrupted to marry and raise a family. She continues to study via workshops with artists such as Morgan Samuel Price, Larry Moore, Mike Rooney, Kathleen Denis, Mary Garrish and others. She continues to study whenever possible as she believes the creation of art is an ongoing process.
Art played an important role in her life. She found herself a single-mom and supplemented her income doing portraits of peoples’ sailboats. She was a watercolorist until she lost her home twice to disasters. An artist/teacher friend supplied a new studio with a variety of mediums and told her to expand. She fell in love with pastel and oil. She now works exclusively in oil.
She has had a show at Everglades National Park and The National Key Deer Refuge. She is an advocate for Florida’s environment and her art often reflects this. She now participates in paint outs whenever she can, recently hosted a paint out for Oil Painters of America and sells her art through two local galleries. She also often uses her art to support a variety of causes for veterans, preservation projects of natural places and the Marrvelous Pet Rescue in her home town.
She is a member of Oil Painters of America, American Impressionist Society, Plein Air South, Lightchasers, Inc., Florida Plein Air and the Art Guild of the Purple Isles.
