Priscilla remembers dragging her wooden paintbox out into the back yard sometime during high school. Squinting at the receding treeline, she tried to figure out how the vast space around her could be compressed onto a tiny panel and described in acrylic paint with her camel-hair brushes.
Some years later, she is still squinting, but has had a little practice in the interim. A resident of the Florida Keys for about 20 years, she is known for painting water, especially the water’s edge with its transparency fading to reflection. Priscilla approaches each plein air painting day as a new adventure. She uses her plein air studies as a basis for large studio oils, which can be seen locally at Gallery on Greene in Key West, and also at The Gallery at Four India on Nantucket. Priscilla has participated in national and local plein air paintouts, juried them, and teaches plein air painting in oil and in watercolor.
