Winter Garden, Florida
Catherine cannot remember a time when she did not draw or paint and would be lost without the creative outlet. She finds a lot of pleasure in slowing down and paying attention to the things we’re mostly too busy to see at today’s hectic pace. As an art educator, she believes that we are essentially students our entire lives—and that if we put time and patience into our work and enough miles of canvas behind us we can all achieve some level of skill.
She currently creates representational paintings in oils either en plein air or in the studio in a traditional manner utilizing different techniques such as grisaille underpaintings, complementary underpaintings, or a combination of direct painting and glazing techniques.
Catherine has a degree from the University of Central Florida in Drawing and Printmaking. She is an Associate Member of the Oil Painters of America, a member of the faculty at the Crealde School of Art in Winter Park, a member of the Winter Garden Art Association and The Florida Painters. She is a recipient of a United Artists of Central Florida Professional Development Grant and has been associated with the Crealde School of Art since being invited to join their Fellowship Program in 2000. She managed the Paint and Drawing Fellowship team from 2001 to 2010 and joined the Faculty team in 2009.
