Recognized for bold and confident brushwork, Katie Dobson Cundiff is internationally recognized for her plein air landscapes and is considered one of the Southeasts finest impressionist painters. “I work almost exclusively en plein air or from life. Looking for large abstract shapes of light and shadow, and contrast in value and color, I strive to express and capture the mood or emotion of the moment, the place, and the subject rather than details in my paintings.” Katie is a Signature Member, exhibits, and has won numerous awards with many respected regional and national art organizations, and in 2023 was awarded Silver Medals in the Oil Painters of America National Juried Exhibition and Eastern Regional Exhibition for her paintings, “Timber Island Boatyard” and “Light & Shadow”. Signature Membership includes Oil Painters of America OPA, American Impressionist Society AIS, American Women Artists AWA, Women Painters of the Southeast WPSE, and Plein Air Painters of the Southeast PAP-SE. Katie is also a member of Laguna Plein Air Painters Association LPAPA, and California art Club.
